Did the holiday season sneak up on you this year? It seemed to go by super fast! There are still so many things that I haven’t gotten around to yet: holiday baking, making Christmas crafts, reading my favorite holiday stories to Danger, and yes, spending time with many loved ones.
Atlanta is a wonderful place to be during the holidays. There are still festive events being celebrated at some of the best Atlanta attractions! One of my favorites, Georgia Aquarium, adds a unique twist to the traditional holiday celebrations with the Festival of the SEAson.
This underwater wonderland is not to be missed! I mean – mermaids! A SCUBA diving Santa Claus! A fabulous light show set to music in the Atrium! Plus, guests can enjoy viewing the beautiful creatures of the Georgia Aquarium.
Festival of the SEAson runs until January 4th, and is included with your general admission ticket to the Georgia Aquarium. Check out some of our favorite moments from our recent trip:
Mermaid Meet & Greet
Danger met a beautiful mermaid, and then watched her mermaid friends swim underwater. The mermaids are visiting from the Weeki Wachee attraction in Florida. It was really neat to see the mermaids swim underwater, but I especially enjoyed watching Danger’s face light up with excitement at the magic!
We watched Santa Claus dive into the water to swim among sharks and other fish. If you’ve ever wondered what Santa does for fun during his time off, this is it! Old SCUBA Claus greeted us underwater and shared information about the fish surrounding him.
FantaSEA of Lights
Team Bradshaw stopped for a quick family picture in the Atrium during the FantaSEA of Lights performance. I am so grateful to the lady that asked if she could take a picture of all three of us. We rarely ever get complete family photos. The lights and music were perfectly coordinated, and it was really neat to look over the Georgia Aquarium while it was all decked out in holiday decor.
Our Special Nook
This is not part of the seasonal celebration, but I thought it was worth mentioning. We found a special little nook under water at the piranha exhibit that we have overlooked on previous visits to the Georgia Aquarium. Danger and I, both Pisces, were really in our element here. We enjoyed a couple of minutes under the sea until another aquarium guest discovered our spot.
