How To Make A Cute Apple Bow (And Then Realize You’ve Done It All Wrong)

This weekend, my family and I had the privilege to attend the Apple Picking Jubilee at Hillcrest Orchards with some very lovely people. The town of Ellijay – known for being the ‘Big Apple’ destination of Georgia – is a little over an hour away from Atlanta, and while it is a very pleasant drive through the country, the price of gasoline alone can drain your bank account faster than you can say, “Piggy on the hill.”

Finding the right outfit for a little girl can be a daunting task, especially when faced with the opportunity to take pictures for a special occasion (or blog :P ). To make my life easier, I had to do a little bit of work. I spent about one hour making this adorable apple applique out of felt and then an additional 10 minutes stitching it onto a t-shirt.

Cute, huh?!

It really is quite simple to make. All you need is some felt (brown, red, and off-white), some coordinating thread, a scissor, and a needle. I just eyed the design and cut out the felt as it appeared on Pinterest. I only wish that I had followed the instructions from the website from which this adorable apple had been pinned – the purl bee. (She includes templates and has very detailed instructions!)

Oops. I suppose if I had only clicked on the picture, I could have saved myself some time and frustration. Oh, well. It was still really easy and (mostly) fun, and my daughter looked so adorable in her apple tee.

Are you on Pinterest? What do you think about the site?

Aww, I think she looks adorable in her apple shirt! Speaking of Pinterest, here’s one of my favorite quotes from there “Sometimes plan, but sometimes wing it” :) You did a good job of winging it!

Thanks for stopping by my blog. About the fries, the outside got a little crispy but the inside was nice and soft

  2. She is adorable, and I just love her shirt! Tutus are awesome, too! :) You did a great job with the t-shirt.

I’ve never been to Hillcrest Orchards, although I’ve driven past it about a bazillion times. I’m definitely going to have to check them out this fall.

As far as pinterest – I’m a total addict. I need a support group or something. It’s a good thing I don’t have any free time, or I’d really be in a mess.
